5 Things I Do To Start My Morning

Hey guys and Happy Saturday! Is it me or has this week been flying by?! I've never been a morning person. I would rather stay up later into the night and sleep into the afternoon but when you're working everyday out of your home, there's no luxury like sleeping in til noon. It's been a lot easier to get up in the mornings ever since I've been doing a few things to help me wake up and get ready for the day. Another thing that helps is getting a good night sleep, between 6-8 hours, on a daily basis, especially weekdays, I make sure I'm getting eight to eight and a half hours of sleep and it's been a game changer for feeling better. So down below are five things that I do to start my mornings/days of right and strong.

1. Don't press snooze and get moving.

Everyday, I set an alarm for the next day on my phone. I've been noticing that I've been waking up five or ten minutes earlier than my alarm is set for. I don't lay back down for those couple of minutes til my alarm goes off, instead I get up and I go to feed my cats downstairs. It's one of those things that requires me to get up, move around and by the time I feed the fur babies, I'm awake and it's time for the next thing to do.

2. Do my makeup and get dressed

While I sit down and do my makeup, I'm already thinking about the things I'll be using to do my makeup and if there's any changes that I want to make to my makeup that day. Perhaps try a new/different eyeshadow palette or add falsies on. It's one of those things that really wakes me up and gets me excited for the day ahead. I feel like I'm setting myself up to be successful and confident. Then I get dressed because no one to go back to sleep when they don't have pajamas on. Right?

3. Drink strong Nespresso before heading out the door

I've always been into Keurig and it's coffee ☕. Then my sister told me about Nespresso and I decided to give it a try because gradually my Keurig coffee felt watered down and not strong enough to give me a little kick to get me going. Once I tried Nespresso I loved it because there were different levels of coffee, from light to super strong, even a little espresso shot! It was a little bit more expensive but I felt like it was an investment and I waited until they were on sale so I saved some money on it! So now before I leave the house, I need to drink a cup of coffee and I use one of my favourite creamers from International Delight in Southern Butter Pecan.

4. Eat breakfast, usually cereal

Eating breakfast is very important for me. It helps me feel awake, happy and up beat. I've tried the no eating breakfast til 10am or noon but you know what I found out? I feel more tired, grumpy, agitated and wanting to stay in bed because my body doesn't want to wake up. I pick one of my favourite things to eat, usually cereals and bagels because they're super quick and help your body wake up and get moving. By any means, I'm not telling or recommending that you eat breakfast super early, this is what works for ME, I'm just sharing in this blog post what works for me. You know yours bodies best, listen to them.

5. Pack my lunch to make sure it's healthy and I don't go out and buy something quick and unhealthy.

Every morning, I pack my lunch box with a main meal, few healthy and unhealthy snacks because you've got to keep balanced right? Otherwise if I'm cravings something unhealthy, I'll be going out and buying something unhealthy. I can choose to eat out everyday for lunch but I find comfort in going grocery shopping and preparing my own meals for myself and my husband. I feel like eating is for suppers or special occasions.
